Rules of thumb that save careers: nobody legitimate sells a guaranteed add on a specific Spotify playlist; any playlist whose followers are huge but whose adds produce no streams is botted; and Spotify actively removes artificial streams and can penalize your track. If a "curator" quotes a price per placement, walk.

What Curators Actually Respond To

• Fit: you clearly listened to the playlist before pitching
• Momentum: spins, clips, growth, proof other people are reacting
• Brevity: two sentences and a link beat a press release
• Reciprocity: you follow, share, and credit the playlists that support you

The Placement Flywheel

Placement begets placement: DJ activity and content create streams → streams and saves trigger algorithmic playlists → algorithmic performance and visible momentum make curator pitches land → curator adds feed the algorithm further.
