The streaming era rewards consistent presence over big drops. Each release is a fresh chance at algorithmic playlists, a new pitch to DJs and curators, and a new reason to talk to your audience. But cadence without promotion is just uploading, three singles promoted properly will do more than twelve released into silence.
The Case for Singles First
Until you have an audience that shows up on release day, albums bury your best songs. Ten tracks released at once get one promotion cycle; the same ten songs as singles get ten. Singles also give you ten rounds of DJ service, ten editorial pitches, and ten data points on what your audience responds to.
A Cadence That Works
